Who and Where Jesus Is, and What He’s Doing!

Part 1A

Part 1B

Scripture: Ephesians 1, 4

Introduction:

Summary and Goal:
On this Ascension Sunday, we ask, “Who is Jesus Christ?” And, “Who are you, Lord?” We get the incredible response and reminder that He is the Father’s Son in the Holy Spirit Who, as the God/Man, is The Way, The Truth, The Resurrection, The Life, and The Ascended One!

Theological Theme:

As the Ascended One, Jesus is ruling over all things with his Father and the Holy Spirit as the God/Man! Though He is living with the limitations of our glorified human nature, he is also living with the unlimited nature of his God Being, as one Person with two natures! Ruling over the earth was always Jesus’ destiny, even if we hadn’t sinned, for God alone can rule over all things within creation and outside of creation! God alone can rule over the visible as well as the invisible! Apart from Christ, no one can do anything! This is not just a statement coming from the fact that we have sinned and fallen short of God’s glory! Only the Father Son and Holy Spirit God can pull off Their real, full, and final goal inside their creation; the goal of the adoption of mankind into Their relationship!

Christ Connection:

In Jesus’ being conceived by the Holy Spirit, he has started something fresh and new right here in the middle of our broken humanity (for he was not born of the will of fallen man but of God). In his fleshly life as a baby, a child, a teenager, a young adult, and a full-grown man, he has completely undone every obstacle and all sin between the Father and us. We can relate with him and the Father and come before his throne of grace boldly to receive mercy in time of need! In his suffering and crucifixion, and his ascension to heaven as a fully glorified Man before the Father, Jesus is sharing everything He is and has with our human nature in the Holy Spirit.

Missional Application:

In the grace and power of the Holy Spirit Who is with us, and through whom Jesus knocks on the door of our hearts to live inside us, you can now turn and come to the Father! Through Jesus the Son you can live a life that glorifies God—great things Jesus has done! You are called to live in unity with Jesus and the Father by receiving the Holy Spirit, a relationship that is offered to you freely! You are summoned in Jesus by the Spirit to embrace and stop rejecting the Father! You are called to understand Jesus and stop putting off understanding Him! You are called to enjoy the Holy Spirit and stop grieving Him! You are called to receive and share this Good news with others!

Only The Childlike Will Enter God’s Kingdom

38-daily-dependence-matthew-18-3-childlike-faith

https://trinityandhumanity.files.wordpress.com/2016/12/16-07-31-only-the-childlike-will-enter-gods-kingdom-matthew-18-1-6-tah.mp3″

George MacDonald wrote, Do you think you love your children better than He who made them? Is not your love what it is because He put it into your heart first? Have you not often been cross with them? Sometimes unjust to them? Whence came the returning love that rose from unknown depths in your being, and swept away the anger and the injustice? You did not create that love. Probably you were not good enough to send for it by prayer. But it came. God sent it. He makes you love your children.”

This message of God’s Good News proclaims how God – Father, Son and Spirit – puts his love into us, growing us up into being childlike, so that we may share in it with him, and with others, in his Kingdom!

God The Trinity’s Dysfunctional, Covenant Family!

God's Dysfunctional Family Genesis 27https://trinityandhumanity.files.wordpress.com/2016/04/16-04-10-god-the-trinitys-dysfunctional-covenant-family-genesis-27-1-40-tah.mp3”

Theological Theme: God is sovereign over all of life, and He will work out His plan of redemption despite and sometimes through our dysfunction.

Christ Connection: Jacob’s story is a good example of why humanity needs a Savior. Like Jacob, we seek a blessing that is not ours, but we cannot lie, deceive, or trick to receive it. Instead, Jesus shared His blessing with us when He took the judgment we deserve so that we might receive the blessing He deserved.

Missional Application: Because God specializes in showing mercy to unworthy people, we should look for ways God can make visible His grace through our struggle with ongoing flaws and dysfunction.

The Covenant-making Triune God Tests Abraham

God will provide - Gen 22

Theological Theme: Faith is trusting in God to keep His promise to provide salvation.

Christ Connection: Isaac’s question “Where is the lamb for the sacrifice?” echoes through the pages of the Old Testament and is ultimately answered at the beginning of the New Testament when John the Baptist sees Jesus of Nazareth and declares, “Behold the Lamb!”

Missional Application: God calls us to be people of faith who, like Abraham, are so filled with confidence in God’s resurrection power that we are willing to sacrifice for His mission.

You Are Looking For Jesus Of Nazareth!

Mark 16-6-7

This message proclaims that you have solidarity with God in even your darkest hour because of God in Christ! In Christ Jesus has joined us in our dying – Indeed in Christ, God died! – uniting us to Himself in His Resurrection. Therefore, you can live NOW IN HOPE for your human life because:

When Jesus Christ lived, he lived your life, our life. When Jesus died, he died your death, our death. When Jesus rose and ascended to his Father, you rose, we rose, and all humanity mysteriously and truly ascended to his Father in Him!

Indeed, you are looking for Jesus, Who promised to draw all men to Himself! You, we, truly do live in Jesus The Resurrection and The Life! So, do you live in Him???? 🙂

Participation In The Coming Of Jesus Christ…!, part 7

jesus-heaven-clouds

In this 7th and last message of the Gospel series at New Life Fellowship of Baltimore, Maryland, entitled: “Participation in the Coming of Jesus Christ…!“, Pastor Tim continues to Proclaim the Good News of the God Revealed in Jesus! In particular he helps us ask and answer:

“If God is HERE, and the Life of the Age to come has BEGUN, and our LIFE HERE HAS MEANING TOO, then why do we yet look for Jesus’ Reappearance?”

Pastor T also considers:

  • What we can and should be doing as we wait for Jesus’ reappearance
  • How we can take part in paying God the highest compliment ever in the meantime,
  • And responds to 3 questions from the audience in the light of the Jesus proclaimed in this series

ADVENT/EPIPHANY – All of Humanity Included In the Love and Life of the Whole God

TrinityIncluded

In this 6th message of the Gospel series at New Life Fellowship of Baltimore, Maryland, entitled: “Participation in the Coming of Jesus Christ…!“, Pastor Tim continues to Proclaim the Good News of the God Revealed in Jesus! In particular he helps us see:

  • How the mix of Greek philosophy with Christianity has affected songs we write and sing about “G-O-D” (You’ll get a laugh out of one “hit” song and maybe understand your grandparents a little better! haha!)
  • How we might better understand the term “Son of Man” and what is being conveyed more meaningfully to us about the God Who is with and for us on our side!
  • The 4 “D’s” that represent ways we take part with Jesus RIGHT NOW in His coming that match up with Who God is, and who we are in Him in His Ministry of Good News as believers!

We laughed a lot, too! Check it out! 🙂

ADVENT/EPIPHANY – Humanity Revealed to Be in the Vice-like and Gentle Grip of Our Relational God

Advent - The Coming of Jesus

In this 5th message of the Gospel series at New Life Fellowship of Baltimore, Maryland, entitled: “Participation in the Coming of Jesus Christ…!“, Part 5, Pastor Tim continues to be encountered by Jesus, along with the congregation about Jesus’ Presence and Coming, and what it means for us in our day. In this message hear (more in-depth) at least 4 reasons we find it difficult to experience the fullness of joy even though we believe and are included in the Life of God the Trinity in Jesus!

Another interesting day in the Good News! Yay!

ADVENT – God, The Suffering Servant, In His Coming

Advent - The Coming of Jesus

In this encounter with Jesus about His Presence and Coming, He addressed us in the Spirit at New Life Fellowship with Good News responses to:

  • The ULTIMATE reason for YOUR much suffering
  • Why you have nothing to fear from Father, REALLY
  • How you can know EXACTLY when Earth’s worst days are upon it, and
  • Why we should NOT believe in sin and other “things”

It was an interesting day in the Good News! Wow!
