You might ask whether knowing that God is a Trinity is important. The answer is ABSOLUTELY YES! God reveals Himself in a three-fold way. The Father sends the Son to become human and bring about reconciliation. The Son perfectly accomplishes His mission and ascends back to heaven to send the Holy Spirit in His name. The Holy Spirit comes in the name of Jesus, bringing people to repentance and uniting them to the perfect humanity of Jesus. This is how God shows His love.
All three Persons (prosopons) of God work together to establish a right relationship between God and humanity, through the Person and humanity of Jesus. Removing any Person of the Godhead removes us from the redemptive work that God has done. God is not three interchangeable parts or three modes of being that simply change roles. There is a true distinction among them (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit). The Father is never begotten and never proceeds. The Son is the only begotten and never proceeds. The Holy Spirit is never begotten and is the only one who proceeds.
The three Persons of the one God do not merely coexist; they subsist with one another. They have their being in relationship. The Father is not the Father apart from His relationship with the Son and in the Spirit. The Son is not the Son apart from being the Son of this Father and in the fellowship of this Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is not the Holy Spirit apart from being the Holy Spirit of the Father and the Son.

Bible Verses: Romans 8: 12-20 Romans 8:31-39
Introduction:
God the Father changes us in Christ. In exploring Romans 8, we see that Christians have undergone a radical
transformation from being slaves of sin and fear to becoming children of God who can live with full
assurance and hopeful anticipation that God is making all things new.
Theological Theme:
God [The Father-Son-Holy-Spirit] delivers us from slavery to sin and death, and He gives us life through the Spirit.
Christ Connection:
God’s people are in the process of being conformed to the image of His Son. We have been adopted into His family, no longer slaves to sin but children of God who call Him “Father.” Because of Christ’s work on the cross, we are welcomed into God’s family and are now coheirs with Christ, eagerly awaiting the glorious future He has promised.
Missional Application:
The Father calls us to rely on the Spirit’s power to put to death the deeds of the body and to follow His commands as His children.
Conclusion:
“Wherever the Holy Spirit dwells, His holy presence creates a hunger for holiness. His primary task is to magnify Christ (see John 16:14-15), and it is He who gives the believer a desire to be like Christ. In our natural condition we have no such passion. But in the Christian, the Spirit of God begins to carry out the will of God to make the child of God like the Son of God (see Rom. 8:29). And He who began this good work in the life of the believer ‘will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus’ (Phil. 1:6).” –Donald S. Whitney

Introduction:
How are we supposed to be living our lives in these times?
Scripture reminds us that we are sealed with the Holy Spirit who is the guarantee of our inheritance. “And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.” –Ephesians 1: 13-14
Theological Theme:
These times bring insecurity but God’s [Father, Son and Holy Spirit] great desire for His people is that we feel secure in His love and power. Therefore, the perspective we have of this life should not change as the Spirit leads us to Jesus Christ.
God wants us to have an abundant life but we need to ask “what is our TRUE inheritance and what are we supposed to learn?’ Everything in this life may be unstable – We live in some very unstable times in our society but we are to live by The Spirit and not by our own ways.
Christ Connection:
John 3: 16 – God so LOVED US that he gave us JESUS. He is so passionate to having a people for His own possession that He gave us Jesus/His Son so we can be His possession, who live forever for the praise of His glory.
“By giving us the Holy Spirit, God seals or stamps us as his own at our conversion. And then the Holy Spirit continues to testify, authenticating the reality of this relationship by making us more and more like Jesus. The God who has thus authenticated this relationship will most certainly protect his people through trials and difficulties.” – Erik Raymond
Missional Application:
God sends us His Holy Spirit as a preserving seal to lock in our faith – as an authenticating seal to validate our son-ship, and as a protective seal to keep us out of destructive forces. God wants us to feel secure and safe in His love and power.
Conclusion:
If we are having insecurity issues in understanding that we are to LIVE BY THE SPIRIT and WALK ACCORDINGLY, then we need to read scripture and remind ourselves, “The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life.” –Acts 14: 22 and we need be in fellowship “strengthening the disciples and encouraging them to remain true to the faith….” –John 6: 63
Circumstances will dictate other thoughts and you can forget who you are in Christ, what The Father did through His Son, and what that means for YOU but no matter how hard you are on yourself we have to be reminded that God has CHOSEN YOU and has REDEEMED YOU!

This message of Good News leads to an attempt of a congregation to participate with Jesus as he inspired the Apostle Paul to write in Ephesians 4 :7-13 (The Message):
“Is it not true that the One who climbed up also climbed down, down to the valley of earth? And the One who climbed down is the One who climbed back up, up to highest heaven. He handed out gifts above and below, filled heaven with his gifts, filled earth with his gifts. He handed out gifts of apostle, prophet, evangelist, and pastor-teacher to train Christ’s followers in skilled servant work, working within Christ’s body, the church, until we’re all moving rhythmically and easily with each other, efficient and graceful in response to God’s Son, fully mature adults, fully developed within and without, fully alive like Christ.”

In part two of this new series on God’s Good News at New Life Baltimore, walk with a congregation preparing to participate and go with Jesus more “Outside The Walls” of the Church by asking the three most important questions of Christianity:
Who is Jesus Christ?, Where is Jesus Christ today? and What am I to do as a Christian?
It is also reinforced that:
*Jesus Christ has no volunteers in His Church, only those who have been called by Him and who stand under his gracious command and free response from the Spirit!
*God is not looking for a perfect response BUT does look for an imperfect one!
*Love is always obedient even though obedience isn’t always love!
