“Jesus’ Resurrection Changes Everything!”

Part A:

Part B:

Full message:

Scripture: Luke 24:13-49

Summary:

In this deeply theological and pastorally rich proclamation by Pastor Richard Andrews, we are drawn into the living reality that the resurrection of Jesus Christ is not merely an event remembered, it is the decisive act of the Triune God that redefines all of reality and restores what it means to be truly human.

The Father, in His eternal love, sends the Son into our broken humanity, not as a distant observer, but as One who fully enters our suffering, bears our sin, and carries our death. The Son, Jesus Christ, in obedience to the Father and through the Spirit, walks the road of humiliation, crucifixion, and burial. Yet death could not hold Him. By the power of the Spirit, He is raised, vindicated, and enthroned over all creation.

As Karl Barth so powerfully declares: “The resurrection of Jesus Christ is God’s ‘Yes’ to the life of Jesus.” This divine “Yes” is the Father’s affirmation that the Son’s life, death, and sacrifice are fully accepted, fully sufficient, and eternally victorious. And as a faithful theological summary of Wolfhart Pannenberg reminds us: “The resurrection is the decisive act of God for the salvation of the world.”— Summarizing the theology of Wolfhart Pannenberg. This means the resurrection is not an isolated miracle, it is the turning point of history itself, where God acts once and for all to redeem, restore, and reconcile humanity to Himself.

Luke 24 brings this truth into the realm of human experience. The risen Christ draws near to discouraged disciples on the road to Emmaus. He walks with them in their confusion, speaks into their misunderstanding, and reveals Himself in the breaking of bread. Here we see the heart of the Triune God at work: The Father purposes, The Son reveals, The Spirit opens eyes and ignites hearts. This is not abstract theology, it is divine participation. The resurrection is where God’s life meets our humanity.

Through the resurrection, Jesus does not simply conquer death, He invites us into His life. Humanity is no longer bound to sin, fear, or striving, but is drawn into communion with the living Christ. In Him, we receive a living hope, are made right with God, are given eternal life, and are assured that even now He intercedes for us.

Jesus’ resurrection changes everything. It reshapes how we see, how we understand, who we are, and why we live. He is not distant, but present, meeting us in every circumstance. In Him, Scripture becomes a living word that forms and reveals truth. Our identity is no longer rooted in ourselves, but in Christ who has claimed us as His own. And our lives are no longer self-directed; we are sent into the world as participants in His mission.

So, we do not merely celebrate the resurrection, we are invited to live in it, to believe, walk, abide, and share in the life of Christ. Because the risen Jesus is not just alive, He is present, He reigns, and He is drawing all things into Himself.

Key Themes and Reflection Questions:

  1. The Risen Christ Draws Near
Theme: Jesus meets us in real life. In confusion, grief, and doubt, and walks with us even when we don’t recognize Him.
Discipleship Question: Where might Jesus already be present in your life that you have not yet recognized?
    #HeWalksWithUs
  2. Christ Revealed in Word & Table
Theme: The risen Jesus reveals Himself through Scripture and communion, turning confusion into clarity and encounter.
Discipleship Question: How is Christ revealing Himself to you through His Word right now?
    #ChristRevealed
  3. A Living Hope Secured in Christ
Theme: Through the resurrection, we are given hope, justification, and the promise of eternal life.
Discipleship Question: Are you living from the hope Christ has given you, or from the fears around you?
    #LivingHope
  4. Life No Longer Our Own
Theme: The resurrection reshapes our identity. We belong to Christ and live in union with Him.
Discipleship Question: What part of your life are you still holding onto instead of surrendering to Christ?
    #NewLifeInChrist
  5. Sent Into the World
Theme: The risen Christ sends us to proclaim Him, empowered by the Holy Spirit in everyday life.
Discipleship Question: Who is God calling you to share the message of Jesus with this week?
    #SentWithPurpose

Reflective Moment:

Pause and sit with this truth: The same Jesus who walked the road to Emmaus is walking with you now.

In your confusion… He is present.
In your discouragement… He is speaking.
In your unanswered questions… He is revealing Himself.

You may not always recognize Him at first, but He is nearer than you think. So ask yourself:

Where in my life do I need my eyes opened to see the risen Christ?
Where am I living as if He is distant, when He is already present?
And who is He sending me to, to share this living hope?

Because the resurrection is not just something to remember, it is a reality to step into.

“An Idolatrous People Receive Judgement!”

Part B:

Full Message:

Scripture: 2 Kings 17

Summary:

In 2 Kings 17, we witness the heartbreaking fall of Israel, a nation blessed by God yet ruined by idolatry, compromise, and divided trust. Though God warned His people repeatedly through prophets, they refused to listen, rejecting His commands and chasing the empty promises of other nations, false gods, and their own desires. Israel’s downfall wasn’t sudden, it was the result of a long, steady drift from wholehearted devotion to God.

This powerful sermon by Pastor Melvin McKee reminds us that idolatry doesn’t always look like carved statues; it can show up as cravings for approval, security, power, pleasure, identity, or anything we elevate above God. When we place our hope in anything else, we eventually experience brokenness because idols cannot satisfy and cannot save.

Yet even in judgment, God’s heart is steadfast love. Like a Father who disciplines His children so they can live, He calls us to turn from what destroys us and return to Jesus, the only One who perfectly obeyed God and bore our judgment. Through the Spirit, God invites us to walk in true life, moving from idolatry to intimacy, from self-reliance to surrender, from wandering to worship, from spiritual emptiness to joy.

Key Themes And Relective Questions:

  1. The Danger of Divided Trust ⚠️💔
  • Theme: Israel tried to trust God while also relying on other nations and idols. Divided trust always leads to spiritual collapse.
  • Key Takeaway: God doesn’t accept part of our hearts; life is found when He becomes our only security.
  • Discipleship Question: Where are you tempted to divide your trust instead of resting fully in God?
  •  #WholeheartedTrust
  1. The Reality of Idolatry in Everyday Life 🗿➡️💭
  • Theme: Idolatry isn’t just ancient, it shows up whenever we rely on anything more than God for identity, joy, or meaning.
  • Key Takeaway: Idols promise satisfaction but deliver emptiness. Only God satisfies the human heart.
  • Discipleship Question: What subtle idols compete for your attention, affection, or allegiance?
  • #GuardYourHeart
  1. The Love That Warns ❤️📢
  • Theme: God sent prophets to lovingly expose Israel’s sin and call them back. Warnings reveal divine patience, not punishment.
  • Key Takeaway: Grace often comes as a warning. God exposes idols so we can return to Him and live.
  • Discipleship Question: How have you seen God’s warnings function as acts of love in your life?
  • #GraceThatWarns
  1. The Discipline That Restores 🛡️🔥
  • Theme: God’s discipline is not destruction. It is deliverance. He corrects His children so they may share in His holiness (Hebrews 12:7–11).
  • Key Takeaway: Though painful, discipline leads us back to life and deeper intimacy with God.
  • Discipleship Question: Where might God be using discipline to shape you more deeply into Christ’s likeness?
  • #LovingDiscipline
  1. Jesus: Our Deliverance from Idolatry ✝️🕊️
  • Theme: Israel failed under the weight of idolatry, but Jesus perfectly obeyed and took our judgment upon Himself.
  • Key Takeaway: Only Jesus can free our hearts from the idols we cling to and restore us to true worship.
  • Discipleship Question: How does Jesus’ obedience on your behalf inspire you to pursue Him with a whole heart?
  • #JesusOurHope

Reflective Moment:

When we look at Israel’s story, it becomes clear that idolatry is not just an ancient problem, it is a human problem. As Martin Luther reminds us, “That now, I say, upon which you set your heart and put your trust is properly your god.” Israel’s heart drifted, and if we’re honest, so do ours. We all reach for things that promise comfort, control, identity, or security, but none of them can carry the weight of our souls.

Yet the good news is this: God never stops coming after His people. His warnings are mercy. His discipline is love. His judgment is not the end of the story but an invitation back to life.

Today, take a quiet moment to ask: Where is God inviting me to return, to trust, and to let go of what cannot save? The One who calls you away from idols is the same One who welcomes you with open arms.

“Grace That Goes First!”

“We love because He first loved us.” —1 John 4:19 (CSB)

Before you ever moved toward God, He moved toward you. Before you repented, before you prayed, before you even believed, He had already set His love upon you. THAT’S GRACE!

“God does not wait for man to turn to Him; He goes to meet him.”Karl Barth, Church Dogmatics IV/2, p. 752

In Christ, the Father and the Spirit ran to embrace humanity: fallenness, rebellion, shame and all. Jesus didn’t wait for us to get it together. He stepped into our mess. The Spirit didn’t demand we earn His presence. He was poured out freely. The Father didn’t withhold His love until we deserved it. He gave us His Son while we were still enemies. “But God proves his own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”Romans 5:8 (CSB)

This is grace: God didn’t wait for you to change. In Jesus and by the Holy Spirit, He came to change you by love.

“God does not wait for us to believe or behave before including us in His grace. In Jesus, He already has.”—Gary Deddo, Clarifying Our Theological Vision, GCI.org

God is not keeping His distance, waiting for you to fix yourself. He has already come near, already included you, already begun the work of making you whole in Jesus Christ. The cross isn’t a symbol of what we must do for God; it’s the declaration of what He has already done for us and with us.

The love of the Trinity is not reluctant, it is relentless.
The Father ran to meet us.
The Son gave His life for us.
The Spirit came to dwell within us.
Three Persons, one God, moving together in love to bring us home. “For through him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father.” Ephesians 2:18 (CSB)

So now the question becomes:

Who do you need to pursue todaynot because they’ve earned it, but because God pursued you? Maybe someone has hurt you. Maybe they’ve drifted. Maybe you’ve distanced yourself, waiting for them to make the first move. But what if grace calls you to go first, not in your own strength, but with the strength of Christ and by the Spirit who lives in you.

Let your life reflect the rhythm of the Triune God:  ✨ A love that doesn’t wait.  ✨ A grace that goes first.

Prayer

Lord,
You loved me before I ever reached for You.
You came near when I was far, and gave Yourself without waiting for change.
Thank You for pursuing me with grace.

Now help me do the same.
Where I’m tempted to hold back, let me move forward in love.
Where I want to wait, give me courage to go first.

Let my life reflect the mercy You’ve shown me.
Make me a witness of Your grace in motion.

Amen.

“Resurrection For Real Life!”

Devotional By Pastor Timothy Brassell

Scripture: John 20

“He is Risen Indeed!”
When Mary Magdalene wept outside the tomb, she thought Jesus was gone. But then—He said her name. “Mary.” In a moment, despair turned to joy. The risen Jesus stood before her, not as a ghost, but in a glorified, real human body. She ran to tell the others, “I have seen the Lord!”

The resurrection isn’t just something that happened—it’s Someone alive. Jesus didn’t just rise; He is the Resurrection and the Life (John 11:25). That means resurrection isn’t primarily an idea or doctrinal teaching first. It’s a Person you can know. The Person of Jesus!

Real Hope for Real Life
The empty tomb means more than victory over death. It means you will live. As Paul wrote, “In Christ all will be made alive” (1 Cor. 15:22). Resurrection is humanity’s future—because Jesus is humanity’s new Head transforming bodily the entire human family. You’re not facing death alone, or anything alone. You’re heading toward life in Christ.

So, what does this mean now?

  • It means you can face and share grief with hope. “This is not the last word.”
  • It means you treat every person as someone God wants to and will raise.
  • It means your ordinary days are colored by God’s extraordinary future.

The Risen Christ Comes to You
Mary saw Him. Thomas touched Him. The disciples heard His “Peace be with you.” His meeting them as the Living Savior personally made all of the difference. And now, Jesus comes to you, personally. Not as a memory, but through the Holy Spirit, the Risen One reveals Himself to you – your heart, the very center of your being. You can’t study Him like any other subject to know Him. He must meet You, and you Him —again and again, and this all by His initiation and grace!

Have you?

If the Resurrection is personal, and it is, it’s also a call. Jesus doesn’t ask for admiration. He asks for relational allegiance. He is the Resurrected One that you might share with Him in His Relationship with His Father in the Holy Spirit forevermore! You can’t stand in the middle. He doesn’t allow you to take Him neutrally. You either worship and walk with Him or walk away, resurrected body and all. But to those who believe, Jesus says: “Blessed are those who have not seen and yet believe.”

 Today’s Reflection:
Jesus, You are not only alive—You are here. Make Yourself known to me. Make Yourself known to me again, today. Let Your Resurrection Life and hope shape my words, my work, and my worship. I don’t just want to admire You—I want to follow You. I want to know and trust Your Father as You do. I want to be filled with the pleasures of Your Spirit in communion and fellowship with You and the Father forevermore, overflowing into my relationship with all creation! Thank You!

 Question for the Day:
Who do you say Jesus is? (hint: Your response will only be correct when it is the same as Jesus’! Ha!)

“What happened on that day (of Easter) became, was and remained the center around which everything else moves. For everything lasts its time, but the love of God—which was at work and was expressed in the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead—lasts forever. Because this event took place, there is no reason to despair, and even when we read the newspaper with all its confusing and frightening news, there is every reason to hope.”

Who Is The Relational God Revealed In Jesus?, Pt. 2

Part 2A

Part 2B

Scripture: Acts 2:33, 2 Cor 13:14

Summary and Goal:

This Sunday, following Trinity Sunday, we continue proclaiming the relational God-Father-Son-Holy-Spirit Revealed in Jesus. This message is meant to help believers remember that the Father-Son-Holy-Spirit-God is not just an add-on doctrine of Christian faith, but that this God IS the Gospel! God the Trinity is “the root and nerve center” of all Christian belief. There could be no beliefs or doctrines apart from the Truth of Who God has revealed Himself to be in Jesus Christ. Indeed, there is no Christian faith apart from this relational God Who, in Love, sent Jesus Christ into our humanity to reveal Himself and share His Love and Life with us in the Holy Spirit. If you don’t get this basic understanding of the Gospel, you don’t get or understand Christianity. God’s primary revelation to us is the revelation of Himself! The scriptures are primarily about Him! We can only understand ourselves, and the scriptures in the Light of Who He is, or we cannot and do not understand either! Check it out!

Christ Connection:

Jesus alone reveals this God and, by becoming human, has given us human beings real knowledge of, and access to, God, through the Holy Spirit!

Living Into This Challenging Christian Life With Jesus!

Introduction:

The Christian Life is living out and manifesting the reality of our union and communion with the Father, through Jesus (the Son), and in the Holy Spirit! Our purpose in life is to be one with God! Despite our sin and weaknesses, the Lord strengthens us in our relationship with Him as we trust Him for it! When our Lord Jesus Christ reappears gloriously, we too will be glorified and fully blameless in Him! Until Jesus’ reappearing, the Christian life is a challenging life – lived out only in union and communion with the Father, through the Son and in the Holy Spirit!

“Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'” – John 14:6

Theological Theme:

How are we to understand our Father’s strong warning and exhortations in scripture?? Only in the Light of God’s Story, the Gospel!

Story of the Gospel: The Father is the great fountain of love and of every blessing, which he has always bestowed upon his Son in the Holy Spirit in covenant – in an unconditional pledge to love the other! The Son has always received the Father’s unconditional Love and returned it equally in response, in the Holy Spirit!

Christ Connection:

In lavish love that overflows, God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit desired to share Himself with others so others could know it too and so He thought of the first and most important thing to create: Jesus Christ our King! “He chose us in him before the foundation of the world!” “Jesus is the radiance of God’s glory, and the exact expression of his nature (IMAGE) IN FLESH, sustaining all things by his powerful Word!”. Jesus is God’s purpose for all creation, therefore, what Jesus did, mankind can participate in by Grace in The Holy Spirit. And so The Father, Son and Spirit made humanity in Jesus’ image (Gen 1:27,28): as male and female! He blessed us and gave us the task of being fruitful and multiplying together, in covenant, and gave us, together, dominion over all living things!

“Jesus was God spelling himself out in language humanity could understand.” – S.D. Gordon

Missional Application:

We are to look forward to living with Jesus in Heaven ON EARTH, so we invite everyone, everywhere, to repent, believe and receive relationship with the Father, through Jesus, in the Holy Spirit RIGHT NOW! Because this present evil age and world is not our home and will soon perish, we warn people not to place their trust in the world against Jesus but to turn from it, submitting only to Jesus and His Loving Lordship!

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” – John 3:16

Bible Verses: Matthew 28:16-20

We are to go to the nations with the authority of the risen King, for Jesus alone has the power to save. In Him also is the power for our mission as we go. We are to make disciples through the proclamation of the risen King. We are to teach the believers of our proclamation to obey all that the Father commanded us, through Jesus and in the Holy Spirit, knowing that Jesus will finish the good work He began and that He will never forsake us.

Theological Theme:

The mission of the church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ.

Christ Connection:

Before Jesus ascended to the Father, He commissioned His disciples to go into the world and make disciples of all nations. Under the authority of Jesus, we make disciples by baptizing people in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and by teaching them everything Christ commanded us. As we go, we trust in the presence of Christ, who promises to be with us on mission.

“The church is sent on mission by Jesus. It’s not that the church has a mission, but rather that the mission has a church. We join Jesus on His mission.” – Ed Stetzer

Missional Application:

The Father-Son-and-Spirit God calls us to make disciples of all nations by declaring the truth of the gospel with our words and demonstrating the reality of His love with our actions.

“God hath work to do in this world; and to desert it because of its difficulties and entanglements, is to cast off his authority. It is not enough that we be just, that we be righteous, and walk with God in holiness; but we must also serve our generation, as David did before he fell asleep. God hath a work to do; and not to help him is to oppose Him.” – John Owen (1616-1683)

” The most basic thing in Christianity is God – Father, Son and Spirit, who is the main event and the main activity. Since God is God – Father, Son, and Spirit, this means that at the center of everything is a relationship!…

He came into our flesh and he placed inside of our actual flesh His own relationship as Father, Son and holy Spirit. …..We are empty apart from God. We have our own natural life as he created. We have our natural relationships but those arn’t love because God is love and God has to be intimate with you in order for you to share in God’s actual love and life. So God had to come inside our humanity in Jesus Christ to place His love and life inside of our humanity so that we can actually taste of God’s real life and love…

Now we know what salvation is…..sharing in the life and love of The Father, Son and Holy Spirit, being in an actual relationship with God.

The good life is built with good relationships and that is because you come from a relational God – Father Son and Holy Spirit. I encourage you to take a few dates with Him instead of screen time. Talk with your mate, or whomever else is in your room or  whomever you’re spending time with…..Talk about this God because He is the main event and activity. He is where you’ve come from and He is where you’re heading whether you like it or not  but he has placed it into Jesus for you to be able to like it and not just to like it but to love it” – Pastor Timothy Brassell

“For those of us who want to live contented lives, we do so by fellowshipping with God’s people (Gen 1-26). God – Father, Son, and Spirit has always existed in perfect relationship for eternity. So when they say, “let us make man in our image”, it is let us make them to relate like us…….

I need you because, I was created to need you, so when I’m looking at some other thing and I am not looking at Jesus, I need you to say, “look at Jesus”. When I am struggling with abandonment issues and my self-worth before the father and wondering what’s going on with me, I need my brother to come tell me “look at Jesus” …..

We need each other because we are created in God’s image. We were created to relate to one another because that is how God is. He is the relational God.

If you want to live the ultimate life. If you want to live a contented life, stay connected to the source of life” – Pastor Richard Andrews

“The way the Christian life works is that we begin to have a central focus on Jesus because God The Father has chosen that we won’t even see Him except in the face of Jesus! So Jesus ought to be coming out of our lips, out of our teachings, out of all that we say and do. The life of God has been centered in flesh in the person of Jesus!” Pastor Timothy Brassell

“At the centre of the New Testament stands, not our religious experience, but a unique relationship between Jesus and the Father. No one knows the Son except the Father and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal Him (Matt. 11.27; John 1.18, 17.25-26). This unique relationship is vividly described as one of mutual love, mutual self-giving, mutual testifying, mutual glorifying. Indeed, there is a oneness of mind between the Father and the Son, revealed supremely in the Cross, ‘to bring many sons to glory’ (Heb. 2.10), ‘that we might receive the adoption of sons’ (Gal. 4.5ff)—that we might be drawn by the Spirit into that unique life of shared communion.”—James F. Torrance

“Worship is the gift of participating through the Spirit in the incarnate Son’s communion with the Father.—James B. Torrance, Worship, Community and the Triune God of Grace

The prime purpose of the incarnation, in the love of God, is to lift us up into a life of communion, of participation in the very triune life of God.—James B. Torrance

Main Passage: Nehemiah 8:1-12

“God’s people are to be shaped by God’s Word. As Ezra proclaimed God’s word, the people honored the voice of God and responded with repentance and were renewed. Likewise, biblical fellowship must be centered on God’s Word. As we gather together to listen to God speak to us through the Scriptures, we are challenged to repent, strengthened in our fellowship, and empowered for our mission.” – The Gospel Project

Theological Theme:

Biblical community must be centered on God-Father, Son and Spirit’s Word.

Christ Connection:

Like the returning exiles, when we read God’s Word, we are reminded of our heritage, God’s faithfulness, and His saving work. Most of all, in reading God’s Word, we are encountered by God and reminded by Him of His master plan to bring salvation to the world through Jesus Christ and his cross.

Missional Application:

Through His Holy Spirit, the Father is always pointing us to Christ, and Christ is always pointing us to others.

“When we discipline ourselves to gather together to hear God’s Word, we can expect the Word to impact the way we think and view the world around us. We will develop a deeper burden to know God more intimately. We will grow in our desire to share the gospel with those who don’t know God and are not pursuing Him. Let’s be the kind of people who are passionate for Christ, whose churches are centered on Scripture-reading and preaching, and who delight in the revival God may send our way. He did so in Nehemiah 8. Who’s to say He won’t do it again?” – The Gospel Project

“Understanding the words of God was [is!] the gateway to understanding God himself, leading to delight.”  –Augustine Pagolu
