Main Passage: Esther 4

“From Esther’s story in the Bible, we learn how to seek the Lord even during those seasons of life when His hand of providence seems to be hidden. We learn to see ourselves as playing a role in God’s sovereign plan for the world, and we gain the courage to accept the risk of following God, no matter the cost. As God’s people, we are to find and fulfill our purpose today—for such a time as this—a purpose that must align with God’s greater plan to bring salvation to the ends of the earth. ” – The Gospel Project

Theological Theme:

The Lord God – Father, Son and Spirit is working His plan even when we cannot see Him.

Christ Connection:

The command to kill all the Jews threatened the fulfillment of God’s promise of a Messiah-King who would bring the blessing of Abraham to the world. Even though His involvement in the story of Esther seems hidden, God the Holy Trinity was at work, creating and implementing a plan to rescue His people and set the stage for the coming of His Son Jesus Christ.

Missional Application:

God through His Holy Spirit, calls us to find and fulfill our purpose within His greater plan to bring salvation to the ends of the earth.

“He who does not know Christ does not know God hidden in suffering… God can be found only in suffering and the cross.”  –Martin Luther (1483-1546)

“The King who never dies is Jesus himself, who, like Esther, was raised up at just the right moment in history (Rom. 5:6; Gal. 4:4), ‘for such a time as this’—or as Paul elsewhere says, ‘when the fullness of time had come’ (Gal. 4:4).”  –Elyse Fitzpatrick

Thank you Timothy for this message from the Book of Esther. “God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord.” (1 Corinthians 1:9). Called to participate with Jesus Christ in his work of salvation!

Thank you for this message from the
Book of Esther. It reminds me of the
scripture in 1 Corinthians 1:9 “God is
faithful, by whom you were called into
the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ
our Lord.” Called into the holy love relationship of the Father, Son and Holy
Spirit. Called to participate in Jesus’s
    work of salvation.

John the Baptist is not alive today to prepare the way for the return of Jesus Christ to planet earth. That responsibility has been given to the church, the Body of Christ! Queen Esther was in the right place at the right time! We, who belong to the Body of Christ, the church, are in the right place at the right time to prepare the way for the most exciting event in human history! The return of Jesus Christ to earth to establish his reign and loving rulership over all the nations.

I should have added that we prepare the way led by the Holy Spirit. John the Baptist was also led by the Spirit. As a matter of fact, John was given the Spirit prior to being born! Apart from Jesus Christ, who was both man and God, John was the greatest human being who ever lived.

What is significant about being called by God is that it cannot be revoked or rescinded. He is faithful and will not change his mind about calling us to be led by the Spirit in the Body of Christ, the Church, to prepare the way for the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. This is an exciting time. We are blessed, privileged and honoured to be called into THE FELLOWSHIP or COMMUNION of the beloved Son and his relationship to the Father and the Spirit, sharing his life and participating in his salvation work. “The gifts and call of God are irrevocable.” Romans 11:29

Thank you for your overflowing encouragement in the Gospel Sherwin!

Wow! You’re welcome! What a privilege and high calling from Christ we have as his Body, the Church, to participate with him in what He is doing with his Father in the Spirit to proclaim his Word and Deeds at just the right time, to just the right people, in just the right places and situations of God’s choosing! Ultimately, drawing every human being to himself and their election to be loved by him and to love him and all others, sharing forever in the Son’s relationship with the Father in the Spirit! To think that is not only the ends, but also the means to the end! Wow, and the Triune God be praised!

May you, and each of us, continue growing in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ, in Whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge!
